Vehicle Crash Reconstruction

Crashteams experts can answer many important questions regarding single, two, or multi vehicle collisions. The usual issues are:

  •  Speeds at impact
  •  Vehicle positions in time before impact to assess avoidability
  •  The impact location - usually in reference to the roadway center
  •  The pre impact locations - to determine who was on the incorrect side of center when!
  •  The magnitude of the impact - in terms of potential to cause injury
  •  Were the seatbelts in use at the moment of impact?
  •  If worn, would the seatbelts have reduced injury magnitude
  •  Who was driving? Occupant positioning is an issue more often that you might think
  •  Visibility issues that may contribute to avoidability - often requires site survey in 3D

crash evidenceFactors looked at during accident reconstruction include steering angles, braking, use of lights, turn signals, speed, acceleration, engine rpm, cruise control, and anti-lock brakes. Physical evidence is catalogued and precise measurements are taken to create accurate diagrams, 3D models, and animations of the event.

Accurate measurements taken with total stations enable us to create accurate reconstructions of the incident. Vehicle speeds are calculated using accident reconstruction specific physics formulas.

Crashteams members conduct an in depth collision analysis and reconstruction to identify the collision causation and contributing factors in different types of collisions, including the role of the driver(s), vehicle(s), roadway and the environment.

Certified Experts

Crashteams reconstructionists are ACTAR certifed reconstructionists with many holding specialized reconstruction or physics degrees. Every Crashteams member also has access to a worlwide network of reconstruction experts, and resource material to ensure accurate reconstructions.

On Site Equipment

Crashteams Units are equipped with state of the art laser total stations, high resolution cameras, and " black box " download kits. Using the latest technology for data aquisition enables us to collect the neccessary data in less time. More information on: Forensic measuring equipment.
